Achieving Career Success Part 2: 40 Tips to Help You Get There!

success sign While we all may have different ideas of “career success”, there are a few tried and true tips that will help almost anyone in achieving their vision. I’ve come up with 40 - and that’s probably just beginning! Add more as you see fit in the comments below.

Also, note that most of these tips also include links. While some of the links are obvious, others may have you slightly confused as to why I put them there. Just read the material and I promise, you’ll get the point I was trying to make! Have fun!

1. Never stop learning
2. Show enthusiasm
3. Set personal and professional goals
4. Don’t complain
5. Have a voice
6. Think big
7. Choose a career you love
8. Work for a company you believe in
9. Respect your boss
10. Keep your emotions in check
11. Be generous and genuine with praise and gratitude
12. Treat mistakes as lessons (and learn how to recover gracefully)
13. Always look for ways to improve
14. Be a team player
15. Do more than what is expected
16. Always make nice with receptionists and assistants
17. Know how (and when) to be both a leader and a follower
18. Keep a positive mental attitude
19. Take criticism with humility, an open mind and a touch of humor
20. Become a good speaker
21. Become a good listener
22. Become a good writer
23. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you deserve
24. Don’t be afraid of change
25. Don’t be afraid of hard work
26. “Don’t get so caught up making a living that you forget to make a life”
27. Don’t let your work define who you are as a person

29. Learn to respectfully say “no”
